E-CIG: NO ADVERSE EFFECTS ON BLOOD
Did you know that smoking has a direct impact on our blood?
In 2012 a scientific article about this topic has been published. The study, conducted by Andreas D. Flouris and collaborators, aimed to demonstrate the effects of electronic and tobacco cigarette smoking on blood. This study especially focused on the changes in the number of white blood cells before and after an active smoking session. The study also compared the effects when using traditional cigarettes with the ones related to e-cigs use. The results showed an increased number of white blood cell for at least one hour after having smoked a traditional cigarette. The same growth was recorded even after passive tobacco cigarette smoking.
What happens with e-cigs?
Absolutely nothing! The number of white blood cells remained unchanged both in active and passive smoking using an e-cigarette.
What does it mean?
White blood cells are the primary mechanism of defense of our body and an increase in the number of these cells is normally due to infection. The fact that white blood cells increase when using traditional cigarette (active and passive smoking) means that it’s a risk for the body. In contrast, this kind of risk cannot be associated with e-cigs.
